In the Cevennes, get to know Florian and Lizou Marcon, hosts Le Cambon

In Mialet, in the heart of the Cévennes, Le Cambon is an eco-responsible gîte d'étape and chambre d'hôte run by Florian and Lizou Marcon.

Le Cambon is an old Cévenole farmhouse that we bought in 2019. We renovated the whole gîte part to create 15 beds and we mainly welcome hikers who come down from Le Puy-en-Velay on the Stevenson trail.

We started up in 2021, and have been a Esprit Parc National since 2024. We meet a set of specifications that are completely in line with our values. Waste sorting, a vegetable garden near the house and a few animals.

We dug a pond at the top of the property to encourage biodiversity, to attract pollinators and also for our vegetable garden. We've created lots of little nooks and crannies on the left and right for hedgehogs and birds, and we've got lots of bats, so we're really happy! We make hikers, who aren't necessarily familiar with nature, aware of the different species, butterflies and birds. Our children are also involved in raising awareness: they do lots of activities in the valley with the National Park

We're also members of the Atlas de la biodiversité communale de Mialet. It's a project where we put cameras all over our land and film mammals. We have meetings every 3 months and we count all the animals in the forest with Yann Dissac from the National Park. We want to share nature and say that we love it and need to protect it.
