7-day free-roaming hike on the Chemin de Saint-Gilles
Following a primitive fault line, this route dates back to prehistoric times. A transhumance route, a Roman road, the Régordane reached its apogee in the Middle Ages: it was the only road linking Paris to the Mediterranean, a preparatory route for the Crusades and a pilgrimage route between the Black Madonna of Le Puy-en-Velay and the tomb of Saint-Gilles.
Between the Mediterranean and the Massif Central, from the green pastures of the Lozère to the fragrant garrigues of the Gard, the Régordane is a thousand-year-old pilgrimage and trade route.
