In the heart of the Parc National des Ecrins, we set off on a variation of the GR54 to reach Lac de l'Eychauda. This milky-blue glacial lake is fed by meltwater from the Séguret Foran glacier, which overlooks it. It only thaws for 3 to 4 months, and it's not uncommon to see floating blocks of ice.
This route leads to the lake via a loop through the Col du Pas de l'Âne and finally the Col des Grangettes. The view of the lake from the Col des Grangettes is panoramic.
This glacial lake is one of the largest in the Ecrins massif
